Why This Safari is Special

  • Two contrasting ecosystems: alpine mountains & dense forests
  • Rare wildlife, including rhinos, bongo antelopes & elephants
  • Luxury lodges with breathtaking views
  • Unique tree lodge night experience in Aberdare
  • Uncrowded, peaceful safari routes

Travelling Tips

  • Carry layered clothing because temperatures shift dramatically, from warm daytime drives in Mount Kenya to chilly, misty mornings in Aberdare.
  • Pack a good pair of binoculars to fully enjoy distant wildlife sightings, especially in the dense Aberdare forests.
  • Bring a quality camera with extra batteries or power banks, as cold highland weather drains devices faster than expected.
  • Wear neutral-colored clothing (khaki, beige, green) to blend with the environment and avoid attracting insects or disturbing wildlife.
  • Keep a warm jacket, gloves, and a beanie for early morning and night game drives, especially in Aberdare, where it gets very cold.
  • Use insect repellent, particularly in forested and wet areas where mosquitoes are more active.
  • Stay hydrated even in cooler climates; high altitude regions can still cause dehydration during long drives.
  • Respect wildlife viewing etiquette by maintaining silence during sightings to avoid scaring animals away.
  • Keep a small backpack for daily essentials like sunscreen, water, snacks, and camera gear during game drives.
  • Be ready for early mornings where most wildlife activity happens at sunrise,
  • Carry a light rain jacket or poncho, as highland weather can change suddenly with brief showers or mist.
  • Avoid bright perfumes or strong scents, which can disturb wildlife behavior during close encounters.
  • Keep cash in small denominations for tips at lodges, guides, or local stops along the route.
  • Follow your guide’s instructions at all times, especially in forest areas where animal movement can be unpredictable .
