8 Days 7 Nights Kenya Private Safari – Amboseli, Naivasha, Nakuru & Masai Mara

8 Day Kenya Private Safari Overview

Explore four of Kenya’s most rewarding safari destinations on this 8-day Kenya private safari from Nairobi. The journey begins in Amboseli National Park, where elephant herds roam beneath the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, before continuing through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru. The final three nights are spent in the Masai Mara, giving you enough time for an arrival game drive and two full wildlife-viewing days.

Throughout the safari, your party travels in a private customized 4×4 Land Cruiser with a professional driver-guide. Seven nights of lodge and tented-camp accommodation, scheduled game drives, standard park fees, meals listed in the itinerary, a Lake Naivasha boat safari, and a Crescent Island nature walk are included.

The itinerary works particularly well for couples, families, friends and small private groups who want a complete Kenya safari without changing destinations every day. Kenyan citizen, eligible resident and non-resident rates are available.

Safari Route

Nairobi → Amboseli National Park → Lake Naivasha → Lake Nakuru National Park → Masai Mara National Reserve → Nairobi

The safari follows a logical south-to-west route through several contrasting landscapes. Driving times remain approximate because traffic, weather, road conditions, park activities and accommodation locations can affect each transfer.

Why Choose This 8 Day Kenya Safari?

Eight days gives you enough time to experience Kenya’s major southern and Rift Valley safari areas without reducing every destination to a quick stop. Two nights in Amboseli provide a full wildlife day, while Naivasha introduces a boat and walking experience that breaks up the road-based game drives.

Lake Nakuru adds a focused rhino-viewing destination before the safari finishes with three nights in the Masai Mara. Saving the Mara for last also gives the trip a strong finish, with an afternoon drive followed by two full days for wildlife viewing.

Because the Land Cruiser remains private throughout the journey, your party has greater flexibility with departure times, comfort stops and viewing time than travelers on a shared group safari.

Wildlife Experience

Amboseli is especially known for its elephants, wetlands and views towards Mount Kilimanjaro when weather conditions are clear. Other wildlife can include buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions, hyenas and numerous bird species.

Lake Nakuru provides a contrasting ecosystem of lakeshore, woodland and grassland. It is an important sanctuary for black and white rhinos and also supports Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, waterbucks, zebras and diverse birdlife. Flamingo numbers vary according to lake conditions.

The Masai Mara offers the itinerary’s broadest wildlife experience, with opportunities to see lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, hyenas, and other plains species. Seasonal migration movements can occur at different times of year, but herd locations and river crossings cannot be guaranteed.

Accommodation

The standard package includes selected lodge and tented-camp accommodation with private bathrooms, meals, and a comfortable base between safari activities.

Amboseli – Sentrim Amboseli Camp or Similar

Spend two nights in the Amboseli area with convenient access to the national park. The preferred accommodation offers en-suite safari rooms or tents, dining facilities and areas to relax between game drives.

Lake Naivasha – Lake Naivasha Crescent Camp or Similar

Spend one night near Lake Naivasha after your boat and Crescent Island experience. The property provides comfortable en-suite accommodation within the wider lake area.

Lake Nakuru – Lake Nakuru Lodge or Similar

Spend one night in or near the Lake Nakuru area. Staying close to the national park reduces unnecessary driving before or after your wildlife experience.

Masai Mara – Mara Leisure Camp or Similar

Spend three nights in the Masai Mara area at a comfortable safari camp with en-suite accommodation and convenient access to game-viewing areas.

Accommodation remains subject to availability. If a preferred property is unavailable, Tunza Tours will propose a comparable property and confirm any price difference before booking.

Transportation

A private customized 4×4 Land Cruiser is included throughout the safari. The pop-up roof provides good visibility during game drives, while four-wheel drive suits the varied road and safari-track conditions encountered across the itinerary.

The vehicle is reserved exclusively for your party. However, private transport does not override park rules, safety requirements or operating hours. Your driver-guide will adjust routes based on wildlife activity, weather, and road conditions.

Soft-sided luggage is recommended because storage space inside safari vehicles is limited.

8 Day Kenya Private Safari Price

From USD 1,795 Per Person Sharing

The lowest advertised rate applies when 6-7 guests travel together in one private Land Cruiser on selected low-season departures.

For couples and smaller groups, the per-person rate is higher because the fixed vehicle, guide and transport costs are divided among fewer travelers.

Non-Resident Private Safari Rates

Number of Guests Green / Low Season Regular Season Migration / Peak Season
2 USD 2,450 pp USD 2,795 pp USD 3,295 pp
3 USD 2,150 pp USD 2,495 pp USD 2,995 pp
4 USD 1,995 pp USD 2,295 pp USD 2,795 pp
5 USD 1,895 pp USD 2,195 pp USD 2,695 pp
6–7 USD 1,795 pp USD 2,095 pp USD 2,595 pp

Christmas, New Year and other festive departures are quoted separately.

Prices are per person sharing accommodation and include the standard private safari described on this page. Your final price depends on travel dates, confirmed accommodation, room arrangements, traveler category and optional experiences.

Kenyan Citizen and Resident Rates

Kenyan citizen rates start from approximately KES 149,500 per person sharing when a larger private group travels during selected low-season dates.

Eligible Kenya and EAC residents also receive dedicated quotations based on the accommodation and park rates that apply to their category. Tunza Tours does not simply convert the non-resident USD rate into Kenyan shillings.

You may need valid identification or residency documentation to use citizen or resident park rates.

What Your Quotation Will Confirm

Before payment, Tunza Tours will confirm your:

  • Total safari price
  • Number of travelers
  • Private 4×4 Land Cruiser
  • Accommodation properties
  • Room arrangement
  • Park and reserve fees
  • Included Naivasha activities
  • Meal plan
  • Game-drive schedule
  • Optional activities and supplements

Optional Activities

Masai Mara Hot-Air Balloon Safari

You can add a sunrise hot-air balloon safari in the Masai Mara at an additional cost. Flights depend on availability and weather, so we recommend booking in advance.

Maasai Cultural Visit

Tunza Tours can arrange a respectful community visit in the Masai Mara or Amboseli area for an additional fee. Guests should request permission before photographing residents.

Hell’s Gate Experience

Travelers particularly interested in cycling or walking can request an adapted Naivasha schedule that includes Hell’s Gate National Park. Because adding too many activities to Day 3 can make the itinerary rushed, Tunza Tours will adjust the schedule before confirmation.

Accommodation Upgrade

Higher-category lodges and tented camps are available in all four destinations. Tunza Tours will quote the additional cost before booking.

Masai Mara Fly-Out

A scheduled flight from the Masai Mara to Nairobi can replace the Day 8 road transfer at additional cost.

Best Time to Travel

This safari operates throughout the year. January to March generally brings warm and relatively dry conditions, while April and May offer greener landscapes, fewer visitors and some of the most competitive accommodation rates.

July to October is the busiest safari period and attracts travelers interested in seasonal wildebeest movements in the wider Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. However, exact migration timing and river crossings remain unpredictable.

November and early December can provide green scenery and rewarding wildlife viewing with fewer visitors than the peak migration months. Christmas and New Year usually attract higher accommodation rates.

What to Carry

  • Passport or valid identification
  • Residency documentation when using a resident rate
  • Soft-sided travel bag
  • Small day bag
  • Lightweight safari clothing
  • Warm jacket or fleece
  • Comfortable closed shoes
  • Hat and sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Camera or smartphone
  • Binoculars
  • Power bank
  • Personal medication
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Travel-insurance information

Good to Know Before Booking

This is a private safari, so the Land Cruiser remains dedicated to your traveling party. However, park rules, operating hours, weather, wildlife movements, and safety considerations still affect each day’s route.

Day 3 involves a relatively long transfer from Amboseli to Naivasha. The boat safari and Crescent Island walk are scheduled after arrival, but timing may change if road conditions cause delays.

Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Clouds can also hide Mount Kilimanjaro, and migration movements depend on rainfall and grazing conditions.

Guests arriving internationally on Day 1 should ideally reach Nairobi early enough for the road transfer to Amboseli. If your flight arrives later in the morning or afternoon, Tunza Tours may recommend a pre-safari night in Nairobi.

Booking and Payment

To request an accurate quotation, provide your travel dates, number of travelers, children’s ages, nationality or residency status and room requirements.

Because this is a private safari, the number of people traveling directly affects the per-person price. We’ll confirm your exact group-size rate rather than applying the lowest advertised price to every booking.

The final quotation will identify your accommodation, vehicle, park fees, meals, Naivasha activities and optional experiences before payment.

Cancellation and Changes

Cancellation and amendment conditions depend on travel dates, confirmed accommodation and supplier policies. Peak and festive bookings can have stricter conditions because accommodation providers often require earlier deposits.

Tunza Tours will provide the applicable terms before payment. Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Yes. Standard park and reserve fees required for the confirmed itinerary are included.

Continue to Crescent Island for a guided nature walk among wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, waterbucks and gazelles. The activity provides a welcome change from vehicle-based game drives.

Later, transfer to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Enjoy breakfast before leaving Naivasha for nearby Lake Nakuru National Park.

Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, waterbucks, baboons and other species also occur within the park.

Birdlife is abundant, although flamingo concentrations vary according to water levels and feeding conditions.

Activity: Full-Day Private Game Drive
Accommodation: Mara Leisure Camp or similar

After breakfast, leave with a packed lunch for your first complete day in the Masai Mara.

Enjoy lunch at an approved picnic area before continuing with the afternoon safari.

During the migration period, your guide may explore areas associated with seasonal wildebeest and zebra movements when conditions make the journey worthwhile. However, river crossings remain natural events and cannot be guaranteed.

Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 Second Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara

Meals: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch & Dinner
Activity: Full-Day Private Game Drive

Your second full Mara day gives the driver-guide an opportunity to explore different wildlife areas rather than simply repeating Day 6.

Stop for a picnic lunch before continuing your final full afternoon of wildlife viewing.

Estimated Driving Time: 5.5–6.5 hours
